A PLAYMAKER'S O'PLAYSIS
In need of a little fuel for your day? Here is a story from one of our Playmakers about her experiences with the young people that light her life up!
The Life is good Playmakers partner with frontline professionals – such as teachers, social workers and child life specialists – who dedicate their lives to helping children overcome poverty, violence and illness. These Playmakers use the power of play to build healing, life-changing relationships with the children in their care. Liz Soule is a teacher at The Children’s College and someone who has just begun her journey as a Playmaker. She works with children that have suffered through poverty, parental neglect and abuse as well as children that are in the middle of difficult custody situations.
Playmakers have the power of good on their side. They have the power to set the tone in their classroom and the power to make changes in their student’s lives. Soule knows the kind of power she posseses. She uses it to make her classroom an “O’playsis” for the students. In her letter to Playmakers, Soule says, “I help these children who may have had awful, topsy-turvy weekends come into a stable, warm and welcoming setting.”
